Air Conditioning Repairs
When it comes to air conditioning repairs, there isn’t much that we don’t know. We’ve had years of experience working with many different types, brands and makes of air conditioners. All of our technicians are professional and certified, so if your AC is in need of a repair, you can trust our skilled and friendly team to fix it up for you.
If you believe that your AC needs a repair, don’t ignore it – ignoring your AC’s problem will end up costing you more in utility bills as it has to work longer and harder to cool the air in your home to the temperature set. During our years of service, we’ve had to perform repairs for hundreds of different reasons, but there are some repairs that we have to carry out much more frequently than others:
- Low Refrigerant – Within all air conditioning systems, there is a chemical called refrigerant – it’s responsible for cooling the air in your home. When you have low refrigerant levels, you will notice that your home is not cooling as well it usually does. The refrigerant inside of your air conditioner should not escape, so with this type of problem, 90% of the time, it’s a coolant leak, and we will need to repair or replace the refrigerant line. For the other 10% of the time, during the installation, the refrigerant level has been undercharged.
- Bad Wiring – One of the most common repairs that we find ourselves doing is fixing faulty wiring. When we are fixing these types of problems, it’s often the case that the homeowners have tried to install the air conditioner themselves or someone uncertified has done it for them. Bad wiring not only prevents your AC from working properly but it’s also a fire hazard.
- Frozen Coil – Inside of your air conditioner there are two coils, the evaporator coil (located in the indoor unit) and the condenser coil (located in the outdoor unit). When your indoor coil freezes up, it’s a sign that you have low refrigerant or a coolant leak. For your outdoor coil to freeze up, it’s often caused by the air filters inside of your AC being dirty.
- Lack of Maintenance – All of the problems that your AC can suffer from can be prevented during a maintenance check. Here at Air Care, all of our skilled AC technicians can spot the warning signs – with our regular tune-ups; you won’t have to worry about significant problems occurring and expensive repairs coming up. When your air conditioner has a failing component, it becomes less efficient and has to use more energy to run – this means that your energy bill will increase, but your AC will not be working to its full potential.
We don’t just offer AC maintenance and repairs at Air Care; we also offer our clients AC installation. Most of the homes in San Antonio already have air conditioners installed, so when we are installing new AC units, it tends to be when we are replacing them. All of our technicians are professional and experienced so they will be able to install your air conditioner safely and correctly. Once we have installed your new AC, we don’t forget about you; we offer our customers annual maintenance, so their AC’s are always ready to take on the heat.
With regular maintenance, an air conditioner has a lifespan of 10 – 15 years. When your air conditioner is over the age of ten, it will have become less efficient and will be costing you more than it should to run. When our customer’s air conditioners are ten years old or over, we suggest that they consider having a new AC installed as a new system will be energy efficient and cost them less to run. If one of our customers is experiencing constant problems with their air conditioning, we will offer a new AC installation as we believe it’s more cost effective than paying for regular repairs.
